Attention
Worth County Rural Residents
On
August 31, 2007 the Rural dumpster site on Grouse Avenue will be PERMANENTLY
CLOSED!! Those residents
that use this site will have to take their household garbage to the dumpster
site north of Worth County Lake.
The reason for the change is the Worth County Board
of Supervisors will not be allowed to renew the permit for those two dumpster
sites. This is because of severe abuse
of the facilities due to items that are not household garbage being disposed of
at those sites. It is illegal to dump
tires, appliances, furniture, building materials, hazardous household
materials, paint, brush, yard waste, etc.
The Board of Supervisors and the Worth County Board of Health are in the
process of building an enclosed Citizen Convenience Center that will be fenced
in and gated with a security system.
Inside the building, rural residents will have to check in with the
attendant on duty, and will be directed to the trash compactor for their
garbage or the recycling dumpsters with their recyclables. The hours are not known, but will be posted
at the Convenience Center and there will also be a notice in the two county
newspapers.
In the future we will also be taking old appliances
and tires. There will be a pass through
fee involved with the disposal of these items.
The fee will be whatever it costs the county to properly dispose of
these items. Also in the future, we will
take used oil. We will NOT take building
materials, scrap metal, brush, yard waste or furniture.
It is estimated that by changing over to the Citizen
Convenience Center, annual operating cost will be cut in half.

County Public Health Office and ask to speak to Shane Buenzow, Worth County
